Who we are

A group of triathletes located in the 7 Rivers Region (many people live in La Crosse, Onalaska, Holmen, and West Salem, WI.

Why do triathlons?

Great way to stay fit and healthy, meet new people, socialize, be competitive

Where do you guys train?

Swim: Typically in Lake Neshonoc and black river beach (by Perkins), YMCA, Logan High School

Bike: Rides start at a variety of places in Minnesota and Wisconsin. Time Trials are in Brice Prairie. Sometimes Meet at Myrick park near top shelter.

Run: All over, a lot of people do bricks and run after a swim in the morning or after a bike.

Do I need to be in shape to join the group?

No, this is a great opportunity to make a change and get in the best shape of your life.

Are there other beginners in the club?

Yes, we have new members every year.

Do I need to go to all of the training sessions or races if I join?

No, you can go to as few or as many as you would like.

Can I join if I don’t have a Facebook account?

Yes, but unfortunately you will miss out on a lot of training opportunities with other members. We recommend you create a fake account or create an account and don’t add anyone (just join the Bluff Buster group). Ask another member if you have questions about this.

Can I come to a workout if I’m not a member?

You can come to a session to meet others and see what the team is all about, if you plan on racing, going to workout sessions, and the end of year banquet, please register here.

Do I need to be a USAT member to join the BB team?

No, but certain races require you to be a USAT member or buy a day pass

Can you teach me how to swim?

YMCA has masters swim class, you can contact them or post on our Facebook page about improving your swim. You may also be able to find other members willing to help you without joining masters (other indoor swim times or open water).

Do you have any individual coaching?

When is the season?

Triathlon racing season is typically from late May to October. There are usually indoor tris in the winter hosted by YMCA.

Where can I buy triathlon equipment and gear?

River Trail Cycles in Onalaska – one of the few places to buy tri shorts and equipment near La Crosse.

Can find goggles at a variety of places including Dick’s Sporting Goods in Onalaska
